The Management
Hayley Nicholson – Hospital Director
Hayley Nicholson is the Hospital Director at Magna House, providing strategic and operational leadership to ensure the service delivers safe, high-quality, recovery-focused care. She is responsible for the overall management of the hospital, working closely with multidisciplinary teams to create a therapeutic environment where patients receive personalised support that promotes positive outcomes.
With over 20 years extensive experience in health and social care, Hayley is committed to maintaining high clinical standards while fostering a culture of compassion, accountability and continuous improvement. She believes that effective leadership is built on collaboration, empowering colleagues to deliver person-centred care that places the individual, their strengths and their recovery goals at the heart of everything they do.
Hayley is passionate about creating services where patients feel respected, listened to and supported throughout their treatment journey. She champions a positive and inclusive working culture, recognising that investing in staff development and wellbeing is fundamental to delivering outstanding care.
Working closely with commissioners, community mental health teams and partner organisations, Hayley also oversees effective care planning and discharge arrangements, helping to ensure individuals experience a smooth transition from hospital to the next stage of their recovery. Her focus on integrated working and continuous service development supports Magna House in delivering high-quality care that enables people to achieve greater independence and long-term wellbeing.

Our Consultant Psychiatrists are key in diagnosing and treating mental health conditions. With vast expertise in managing complex psychiatric disorders, they lead the clinical aspects of care, guiding the therapeutic interventions for conditions such as bipolar disorder, psychosis, depression, and personality disorders. The psychiatrist works closely with the entire team to ensure that the medical needs of our patients are met, providing tailored treatment plans to support long-term recovery.

Our Clinical Psychologists at Magna House specialise in psychological assessments and evidence-based therapies. Using approaches such as cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT) and other psychotherapeutic modalities, they address the emotional and cognitive aspects of mental health conditions. Their role is crucial in helping patients gain insight into their mental health challenges, fostering resilience and promoting recovery.

Supporting the Clinical Psychologists, our Assistant Psychologists help with the delivery of therapeutic interventions and psychological assessments. They assist in one-to-one and group sessions, ensuring that patients receive continuous psychological support throughout their treatment journey.

At Magna House, our Occupational Therapists play a vital role in supporting service user’s recovery by assessing their abilities and creating personalised care plans. They help develop life skills, offer therapeutic activities to improve mental health, and provide both group and individual interventions. Additionally OTs assist with discharge planning and community integration, ensuring service users have the necessary support to transition back into society.

Our nursing team consists of Registered Mental Health Nurses (RMN), Registered Learning Disability Nurses (RNLD), and Registered General Nurses (RGN). These highly trained professionals provide 24-hour care to our patients, ensuring that both mental and physical health needs are addressed. They play a central role in patient care, administering medications, monitoring progress, and offering emotional support to patients and their families.

Our Patient Safety Officers and Healthcare Support Workers are the heart of patient care at Magna House. They assist with daily tasks, provide emotional support, and work closely with the nursing team to ensure the safeguarding and well-being of every patient. Their compassionate approach ensures that patients feel safe, valued, and respected throughout their recovery process.

Behind the scenes, our Support Services Manager leads a dedicated team of support staff to ensure the smooth operation of the hospital. This includes administrative teams, catering, housekeeping, and maintenance personnel, all of whom contribute to creating a comfortable, safe, and welcoming environment for our patients and their families.

In addition to our core team, Magna House also provides access to a variety of other Mental Health Act administration and Discharge Liaison professionals to complement our holistic care approach and provide links for patients’ family/carers. These specialists contribute to person-centred care packages and help ensure a smooth discharge process. This collaborative approach ensures that all aspects of a patient’s mental and physical health are addressed during their stay with us.
